In the Fall of 2002, radio station WAMH, 89.3 FM in Amherst Massachusetts played 6 of Steven's songs from his
demo ALL MUSIC BY STEVEN SILVERSTEIN during it's show called "RANDOM" on Mondays from 8-10 PM. The
program invited listener's to call in and comment. Here is
some some of the comments:
Who Needs Romance?:
"who needs romance? More like a perfect song for romance!"
"my husband and I got up and started dancing to [Silverstein's]
hopping music and melody!"
"a great combination of sultry piano, sultry vocalist, and
great lyrics."
Notice Me:
"in terms of the music, [Silverstein] tickles the ivories
with great feeling on this one"
"the piano is begging the melody along"
Pictures I Draw:
"a song of personal growth"
"the piano and the rhythm stir and sway the listeners forward,
with the song"
"a very difficult song, but the middle bridge is fantastic!"
"I feel a certain Sondheim-like quality here."
The Dance:
"reminds me of a Cole Porter sort, as the music spins around
the voice"
"the piano spirals higher and higher, making the listener
pulse forward and back with the plaintive song"
The Path I Choose:
"this is the kind of song I'd play for my child"
"was this written for a major Broadway musical?"
"I liked the way the music climbed, and stepped forward, much
like the path would have been for the singer."
"[Silverstein's] music has a great direction, a real point,
to it."
Strong Wind:
"I remember the first song to Joseph, and this reminds me
of that sort of explaining, sage-like mood"
"the piano is amazing here. It bangs the listener, thrusting
him into the song if he'd been ignoring it before."
