For the last fifteen years, Steven has worked in New York City and the surrounding area as a music director; associate music director; composer; arranger; copyist; dance arranger and voice over performer.

He has had the pleasure of "tickling the ivories" for TV celebrities like the cast of Will and Grace (Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally, and Harry Connick, Jr.) (They were featured in the New York Times article on May 13th to promote NBC Upfront), John Stamos (of Full House), David Schram (of Wings), Rick Pruitt ("42nd Street") Mark Price ("Capeman," "Charlie Brown" and most recently in "Dance of the Vampires" -- as well as Nancy Barrett (Dark Shadows); for theater personalities like Tony Award winner Betty Buckley, Tony Award Nominee Alison Fraser, legendary performer John Raitt (Bonnie's father); for pop personalities like Deborah Gibson and legendary Carole King; as well as Jana Robbins (Gypsy); and PJ Benjamin. He has worked as a pianist and/or music director/arranger/copyist for composers like Charles Strouse (Annie); Stephen Sondheim (Passion); and Jerry Herman (Mame).

Steven has provided arrangements for solo cabaret acts, including Gretchen Reinhagen and John Traecy Egan. Most recently he contributed a vocal piano arrangement of Walking in the Air (from the famous British animated show, "The Snowman") with Happiness (from the movie "Scrooge", starring Albert Finney) to John Treacy Egan's one man show, "Rudolph Unplugged: 40+ years later." It was presented by Ars Nova on November 19-20, 2006 at 8 pm.

He has played keyboards in the pits of such Broadway shows as Blood Brothers and Swinging on a Star and most recently played rehearsal piano for All Shook Up. Off Broadway he was Music director for A Naughty Knight and Associate Music Director for The Jazz Singer (directed by Richard Sabellico) at Jewish Repertory Theatre as well as associate music director for Melting Pot Theatre's production of A Child's Garden at Theatre 3 (which was voted top one of the top 10 shows of the current Off Broadway season by the New York Post). Other Off Broadway shows include When Pigs Fly (Douglas Fairbanks); The Green Heart (Manhattan Theatre Club), That's Life (Jewish Repertory Theatre/Theatre East), Annie Warbucks (Variety Arts) and Eating Raoul (Union Square Theatre).

He has served as music director for Theatreworks USA working on original works by award winning composer/lyricists Art Perlman and Jeff Lunden ("Wings") and the creators of Friends. His work as a music director can be heard on Theatreworks USA's recording of Phantom of the Opera (music and lyrics by David Spencer, of Weird Romance).

Steven is the composer of the musical THE HUMAN HEART (Lyrics by Michael Colby), which debuted at Marymount Manhattan College and received a grant from the Billy Rose Foundation. In addition, his song "Who Needs Romance", sung by Stephanie Pope, is released on the first annual Genesius Guild CD. His songs have been recorded by Randy Graff, Ellen Greene and Carolee Carmello among others.

Steven has collaborated with many lyricists, including David Arthur, Barbara Campbell, Stephen Cole, Michael Colby, and most recently Drew Fornarola. Their song "Christmas with the Inlaws," was debuted at Don't Tell Mama's as part of the cabaret entitled: The Greatest Holiday Musical...EVER.

Most recently Steven has created a seminar called THE FEARLESS AUDITION, which has been very well received in Washington State and upstate New York. He plans on presenting it in February 2007 in Arizona. He recently participated in a radio podcast on the website MusicalTalk, co-created by Steven's colleague and friend, Nick Hutson. Steven answered questions about auditioning from some of the listeners and talked about his ongoing seminar: THE FEARLESS AUDITION.

He is on the faculty of The Neighborhood Playhouse. He has been on the faculty of Marymount Manhattan College, AMDA, and Pace University and in June of 2006 music directed the 5th grade graduation ceremonies at PS 6 in New York City.
